How I De-Stress

As a student, I would say that I am constantly facing stress, and being only in grade 10 reminds me that this isn't even the highest peak of stress that I will have to face in my young life. So, I decided to take action and find ways to cope with stress, rather than complain about it and pray that it goes away with time.

Through a lot of research, I have concluded three tips to turn stress into a positive, motivating factor:

1. Set Deadlines. The worst way to deal with work is to increase it by procrastinating about your assignments. That's why even if a hard deadline hasn't been put on an assignment, it's always preferable to set your own hard deadline, making sure you stick to that deadline.

2. Give Yourself Breaks. If you are hard at work for hours at a time, you are overworking your body, and it will only be a matter of time before your brain catches up with you and you crash. A good practice is to work for an hour and then take a small break to do something rewarding for yourself. Then, you can continue with your work.

3. Talk To Someone You Trust. Sometimes, when you're feeling stressed over your personal life or school, the best thing to help you is to talk to a friend or someone you trust about how you're feeling. It helps to relieve the burden you may feel when taking on too much and could render you vulnerable to new advice your friend or trusted adult could give you.
